Taiwan Dongdian Optoelectronics Co., LTD. (EOC), a leading manufacturer of optical communication filters, and Hangzhou Fuguang Technology Co., LTD., an excellent manufacturer of wavelength division devices, have jointly established the "EOC Optical Thin Film Filter (Hangzhou) Application Laboratory" in Hangzhou.
In April 2023, Mr. Su Liqun, President of EOC, Ms. Luo Huizi, Vice President of Sales, and Mr. Weng Chengmao, head of Design Engineering, made a special trip from Taiwan to Hangzhou in early April to participate in the opening ceremony of the laboratory, and held talks with the R&D and design staff of Hangzhou Fuguang Technology Co., LTD., the partner of laboratory operation, and the teachers and students of the College of Optoelectronics and Testing of China Jiliang University. At the same time, the two sides had extensive and in-depth exchanges on follow-up business and cooperation. At the same time, the back channel cutting test production line of the film filter in Hangzhou base is investigated, and the construction progress of the project is understood. In addition, the two sides rushed to Wuhan to visit leading optical module enterprises to discuss future strategic cooperation plans.
The WDM system based on thin film filter (TFF) technology can greatly improve the transmission capacity of the system, reduce the transmission cost, and adopt fewer channels to meet the needs of telecom operators for high speed, large capacity and high bandwidth, so it has been widely used in long-distance backbone networks in the past. The advantage of low cost and large transmission capacity also brings a broader market space for thin film filter (TFF) wavelength division multiplexer technology, and it can be predicted that wavelength division multiplexer technology will gradually penetrate from the backbone network to the metropolitan area network and access network.
In the application of optical transmission modules, whether it is applied to the 25G optical module for wireless pretransmission, or the high-speed optical module scheme for 100G/400G/800G or even 1.6T in the data center, the combined wave and the split wave can be achieved by TFF. Therefore, the prospect is broad, and the highly reliable filter becomes the key of the combined and divided wave components.
The establishment of the EOC Optical Thin Film Filter (Hangzhou) Application Laboratory will promote the joint efforts of both parties to help promote the wider market application of wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technology based on thin film filter (TFF) technology at the device level, module level, and wavelength division system.
