ADI signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to design and develop the 6G technology
The new 6G networking capabilities will be based on existing and emerging technologies to further support new use cases and applications. Suntech and ADI will work together to integrate high-performance solutions and expertise in various technical fields and jointly realize the 6G vision of continuous development of the industry. Under the MOU, the two parties will collaborate to develop innovative solutions to pursue breakthroughs in a number of key technical areas of wireless network performance, including energy efficiency, network resilience, and secure wireless connectivity.
The two companies will build on their collaboration on 5G, O-RAN and phased array antenna technologies to accelerate technological breakthroughs, drive solutions and services that improve people's lives, and open up new opportunities for businesses, industries and consumers. Future use cases will take advantage of new waveform and spectrum technologies, new 6G air interfaces, high order antenna systems, and sensing technologies. Advances in virtualization, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence (AI) will drive a continued digital transformation that will accelerate the realization of the 6G vision.
The O-RAN and large-scale Multiinput Multioutput (mMIMO) antenna design prototype and measurement platform were jointly demonstrated by ADI and Germantech at the 2023 GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. The move will address several of the industry's challenging challenges, including optimizing the design of O-RAN radio frequency units (RU) to reduce overall network power consumption and enhance O-RU performance to support higher data rate throughput.
Joe Barry, vice President of Markets, Systems and Technology at ADI Communications and Cloud Business Group, said, "In important areas such as environmental sustainability for next-generation networks, collaboration between technology leaders can help make a joint impact. ADI is pleased to expand its partnership with Suntec; We will also continue to focus on solving more challenges and creating wireless solutions for future 6G networks."
Giampaolo Tardioli, Vice President of 6G and Future Technologies at Estech, said, "Estech is pleased to provide ADI with advanced design, measurement and validation knowledge and solutions, and to extend the cooperation area to 6G technologies. This partnership will not only provide us with the opportunity to further enhance our comprehensive capabilities and build more technology platforms, but also help ADI achieve its important strategic vision of long-term commercial success in the 6G investment sector more quickly."
