  U8712M Tunable Laser Mini Module offer superior performance for the testing of DWDM components, AWG & PLC components, optical amplifiers, and other general purpose fiber optic test and measurement applications. It’s specifically designed for fast sweep fiber grating sensor testing.

   U8712M Mini module can be connected to a PC with a USB cable. They are highly accurate, powerful, compact-sized, fast-starting, and affordable tunable laser source systems which provide C band 1 or 2 Laser output options. Module control software is also included on purchase. The module can also be integrated into any requested prodUts system with RS232 interface controls and an output triggered BNC port.

 

Principle of adjustable light source:

Mainly through the control of current and voltage, frequency size of the output to achieve LED dimming function. Specifically, the adjustable light source works by adding a wavelength selection optical device (frequency selector) to the laser cavity, so that only the selected wavelength can form resonance and emit laser light. The selection of wavelength can be achieved by adjusting the parameters of the frequency selector, such as adjusting the length of the FP-cavity, the Angle of the grating, etc. According to the design principle of the frequency selector, the wavelength of some tunable lasers can be continuously scanned (also known as scanning laser), and some can only set the wavelength at a single point, known as the cutting wave light source.
