What is an optical power meter?
optical power meter is an instrument used to measure the size of the optical power, which can be used for both direct measurement of the optical power and relative measurement of the optical attenuation. It is a basic test instrument necessary for the research, development and production as well as construction and maintenance departments in the optical fiber communication system.
In fiber optic systems, measuring optical power is the most basic, much like a multimeter in electronics; In optical fiber measurement, optical power meter is a common heavy load meter. By measuring the absolute power of the transmitter or optical network, an optical power meter can evaluate the performance of the optical device. When combined with a stable light source, an optical power meter can measure connection losses, verify continuity, and help evaluate the transmission quality of a fiber link.
